Frequently Asked Questions

We have put together a list of frequently asked questions about our Removal, Storage, Clearance, and Man & Van Services, along with some helpful tips and advice to help when you are considering moving, clearing or storing your possessions.

No two jobs are the same. That is why our survey is so important. There are a number of factors we need to determine including:

  • What services you require – Removals, Clearance, Storage, Man & Van or a combination of services
  • What parking is like at both locations (permits, bay suspensions)
  • Access from parking to property
  • What stairs and lifts are in place at both locations
  • High value and heavy items that require expert handling and moving
  • Distance between locations
  • Whether there are tolls or charges in place between locations
  • Size of team required.


This allows us to produce an accurate quote. There are no hidden costs so you know exactly what you are paying for and no more. 

We are fully insured to carry your possessions and have goods in transit and public liability insurance. Under our terms and conditions you can have limited or standard liability for your goods. 

We are happy to provide copies of our insurance documents prior to commencing work. 

We may not always need to visit, but we do need to review your inventory and other factors as covered above. If you do have a detailed inventory and can provide photos of specifics we require, then it can be carried out by a call rather than in person. 

It depends. Some weeks are busier than others. Please get in touch and we will review your dates and see if we can assist. Rest assured we never overbook. We work on a deposit booking system where no appointments are confirmed until the deposit is paid. 

It’s very easy. Once we have performed a survey and you are happy with our quote, you simply pay a small deposit invoice to confirm your appointment date, complete our booking form and you are all set. 

Unfortunately, we do not. When we perform a survey we can advise you on what quantities of packing materials you require. We do supply packing materials at competitive prices and will include a packing material price list with your quote if required.

If we perform a survey, we can give you an accurate box count and associated packing materials you require. You can purchase them from us or purchase them yourself. If you purchase your boxes and move from us, we offer sale or return on any unused boxes and other packing material. 

If you choose to purchase your own boxes, try and buy two ply boxes, good quality brown tape (3M, Scotch) and try and avoid ‘Removal Kits’ as there are usually never enough boxes and the quality of the materials on some can be poor.

The size of the Van Buddies team required for your move is determined from the survey information we obtain. We then take into account the volume to be moved, the distance of your move, ease of access at both properties and also whether we are packing and or moving you. Our survey ensures you get a fixed quotation and correct team size to complete your move. 

We will identify at survey all packing requirements. We use specialist packing and transit blankets for items including sofas, chairs, TV’s, desks, cabinets, and mattresses.

We do what we can to ensure we are as green as possible. This includes recycling certain waste from clearances, supplying recycled boxes and offering second use boxes at a reduced rate. We only use approved waste disposal centres for clearance work.

Yes we do. We will do everything we can to accommodate your move, store and or clear, providing we have availability. There is an uplift in charges for a Bank Holiday weekend. Please contact us for more information. 

All our team members have had at least ten years experience in removals. Our team members have a vast knowledge of all removals related matters, both domestic and commercial. We have previous experience of working with national and international removals companies, auction houses and we have extensive experience in moving high value items. We also employ a management team who have project, operational management and technical skills which compliment our office moves.
